The wine

Barolo

Designation of origin and guaranteed
Barolo is the most illustrious and austere son of a great grape variety: Nebbiolo.
The cultivation of the Nebbiolo grape in Langa was already mentioned in 1512 in the statutes ""Loci Murre"".
It is a somewhat capricious grape variety, which expresses the best of itself only in the most congenial environments.
Its variability of expression is also reflected on the origin of the name: there are those who connect it to the mists that accompany the late maturation, those who to the misty layer of prina that covers the berries and those who call it a metamorphosis of the adjective "" noble"".
For Nebbiolo, perhaps more than for any other grape variety, the size of the wine depends on the location of the origin of origin. The Nebbiolo becomes Barolo after at least two years of aging in wooden barrels and one in the bottle.
Vector: Nebbiolo.
Color: Ruby red is transformed, with aging, into grenade red.
Perfume: large and persistent, floral with rose memories, complex up to leather and tar (Goudron).
Taste: dry, generous, harmonious and also velvety body.
Minimum alcoholic gradation: 13% vol.
Aging: Wine suitable for a long time aging.

The cellar

Once upon a time there were four brothers: Leone, Giovanni Battista, Costantino and Giuseppe, who moved from Costiglio d’Asti to Neive, to the heart of the Langhe at the end of the 19th century, to work as a sharecropper. Common roots, but a different destiny: Leone died in a hunting accident, while Giovanni Battista, after his studies in the seminary, became parish priest of Caramagna. Costantino enlisted in the Carabinieri weapon, leaving a mark in the world thanks to his son Dante, who went down in history as the inventor of the Fiat Cinquecento. Finally, Giuseppe cultivated the dream that had always lived his heart: to be able to have a cellar in which to produce the wine of the hills where he was born. It was a day in June 1895 when he learned that a cellar was on sale in Borgonuovo di Neive, at the price of three thousand lire, the spark and magic began from there

. ... and the cellar

Our wine contains the sun and the wind, the frost of winter and the warmth of the summer, the joy of the harvest and the effort of its long season.
Healthy grapes and similar to the territory that generated them are our goal; Balance, plant density, innervation, short pruning, contained productions, precise and timely processes, patience and knowledge are our main tools.
In the cellar, the transformation of the grapes is attentive and respectful. Technology and innovation combines solidly rooted traditional practices, allowing the production of a differentiated wines of wines, which ranges from the most modern and technological interpretations to the most fundamentalist and traditional ones. In this process, the nature of the grape is never lost sight of Origin and wine is continually subjected to analytical and organoleptic checks. The purchase of increasingly modern machinery for winemaking and bottling and the increase in the number of wooden barrels and steel tanks, over the years have allowed us to reach the current production capacity of about 10,000 hectoliters of wine equal to 600,000 bottles per year.
