The recipe of the first Italian Fernet dates back to 1842, with the Denomination Fernet Vittone. Among the ingredients there are cinnamon, aloe, rabarbaro, chamomile, cinchona, zedoaria, galanga, linden, bitter orange, Iris, saffron and myrrh, in an alcohol base of lives. All the components of the herbs become part of the formula of Fernet-Branca: flowers, leaves, roots and drums with which alcoholic infusions, extracts and decoctions are produced which, suitably mixed, retain the beneficial properties found in the product. Subsequently it is matured with an aging of at least one year in oak barrels. The alcoholic gradation has been progressively reduced from 46 ° to the current 39 °. Fernet Branca is usually served as a digestive after a meal, but it can also be enjoyed smooth at room temperature, with ice, with coffee or in addition to the cola.
