1945 The birth of an icon

Civitavecchia. It is 1945 when Angelo Molinari, an expert perfumer and connoisseur of the secrets of mixing, begins his experiments to create a very high quality product: the Extra Sambuca. A liqueur with an unmistakable taste, based on star anise, whose recipe is still secret. Thus began the history of the Molinari company.

1950s - 1960s The Dolce Vita and Roman Salotti

Shortly thereafter Molinari spreads throughout Rome thanks to Angelo and his sons, Marcello and Mafalda, who make it known to the restaurateurs of via Veneto. A drink consumed with some coffee beans inside, which soon becomes an emblem of a social era full of charm, and inspiration for the sweet life of the master Federico Fellini.

There are many VIPs, actors and sportsmen, which alternate as a testimonial of the Molinarious advertising campaigns.

Even Frank Sinatra, a great admirer of the Sambuca Molinari, is so enthusiastic about writing a letter to the Molinari family in which he weaves the praises.

1970s expansion

The rise of the inconsistent anise liqueur is unstoppable and, following the great success achieved, the first industrial complex of Civitavecchia was joined by a second: in 1974 it was inaugurated in Colfelice (Frosinone) La Molinari Sud S.p.A., a new plant At high level of automation, with a production capacity that comes to beat the record of 60,000 bottles per day. This industrial complex is designed to respond to constant developments of the Italian and foreign market and represents a technological jewel.

Since 1975, following the disappearance of Angelo Molinari, the children gathered the legacy by continuing to impose the Sambuca Molinari brand in Italy and in the world.
