During their processing process, particular attention is given to the maturation phase, when the infusion is left to rest for a long period. It is here that the taste is refined, acquiring a harmonious, homogeneous character with pleasant citrus and floral notes, unmistakable signature of Amaro Lucano.
Tips for consumption: smooth, cold, with ice. Excellent as a base for cocktail.
Agency
The quality. Knowledge. Tradition. Ideas.
These are the values that for more than one hundred years have made Lucanian one of the most important Italian liqueurs.
A story made of passion and authenticity enclosed in the secret recipe of cavalier Pasquale Vena.
1894
In the back of his biscuit factory in Pisticci, the cavalier Pasquale Vena created a mixture of herbs with a balanced but decisive taste, with unmistakable citrus and floral notes. So Amaro Lucano was born.
A few years later, the incredible success of the discovery led the precious liqueur to overcome the boundaries of Pisticci and Lucania, and the bitterness was appreciated and known throughout Italy, even reaching the overpowering palates of the real Savoy house, of which The Vena family became official supplier.
The lucky period, however, suffered an arrest with the advent of the Second World War, which imposed the interruption of production due to lack of raw materials. Despite this, the extraordinary liqueur continued to make themselves known.
1950s
With the second half of the 1950s, thanks to the work and dedication of Leonardo and Giuseppe Vena, children of the founder, the artisan laboratory grew and transformed into a real industrial reality.
The production saw a strong surge and reached 3,000 bottles of bitter in a year.
60s -'70
In 1965, the company moved from the historic Pisticci, located on the Lucanian hills, to Pisticci Scalo, where the new plant was inaugurated which in the same year allowed to increase production of up to 117,000 liters.
From the second half of the 1960s onwards there was an escalation of sales.
The foresight of the Vena brothers prompted them to invest in large national advertising campaigns, which amplified the fame of Amaro Lucano and transformed it from a local liqueur product appreciated all over the world.
In the 70s, the growth allowed the company to support Lucanus other products, including Sambuca, Limoncello and Coffee.
1980s -90
In the 80s, with a large communication campaign, mainly television, the unmistakable bitterness consolidated his notoriety on the peninsula. In that period the claim that made him immortal and who still presents Amaro Lucano in the world was born: ""What more do you want from life? A Lucanian!""
2000s
The company continued to grow while maintaining a high quality level, always conquering new markets.
Today
The passion has been handed down from generation to generation and today Pasquale Vena, grandson of the founder, his wife Rosistella and the sons Leonardo, Francesco and Letizia, work with the same determination and passion that over the years brought the Lucanian bitter to success.
2021
In 2021 the company receives a new recognition: it is the ambossed ""historical brand of national interest"" certification. This rewards all registered trademarks, or used for at least 50 years, which have become national excellence through the value of their products that have been part of the history of Italy for years.
Amaro Lucano has received this recognition for all the products of the Lucanian bitter line, Amaro Lucano Anniversario and brothers Vena.
